Initial Research Pathway

1. For our research, we chose AlterG treadmill as our topic. 2. Through gAI(ChatGPT), we found out that AlterG treadmill is the only one in the market that uses NASA's Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology. 3. After that we also prompted "tell me about NASA Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology features and functions in AlterG Treadmill", to find out more about the features and functions. 4. Lastly, we prompted "does AlterG treadmill have any competitor in this market that also uses DAP technology?" to find out more about the competitors.

Descriptive Reflection

Dear Professor Blackstone, My name is Bryan Peh, one of the students in your S20 Critical Thinking and Communicating module. I am writing to provide a detailed reflection on my educational background and my growing passion for engineering. In addition, I will discuss one communication strength and one weakness that I possess, as well as providing two specific goals I have for this module. My interest in engineering sparked at a very young age. What started as a fascination with remote-controlled cars, eventually led me to watch 'Top Gear', a television series that focuses on optimising the performance of automobiles. Learning more about how engines work in cars, I developed a deeper appreciation for the field. Therefore, I decided to pursue a diploma Mechanical Engineering at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where I graduated in 2022. Being an engineering student, I recognise that my communication skills are not as strong as my technical skills. In spite of that, I believe that one of my

The Critical Role of Communication in Engineering Education

“Without clear lines of communication, our ideas would stay within our own small development teams instead of becoming mature products. While this is obvious to those of us who have become experienced engineers, the real question is: Why is it lost to us when we are engineering students?” Akbar R Khan, Software Systems Engineer, USA, “Good Communication Is Essential...” (2014) My understanding of this quote is that through experiences in the real-world scenarios, people will develop the self-initiative to voice out their opinion, criticism or idea professionally towards any problem. This is a way to put themselves in the spotlight of their higher management to see them as someone with a passion to help the company grow in the right direction. However, as students, sometimes we prioritise grades over meaningful learning, therefore, we often take charge of individual work more than project work. Essentially, this means that group member expects another member to have the responsibility
